News: Screenskills National Occupational Standards consultation closing 15th January

National Operational Standards

As you may, or may not, be aware Screenskills have been running focus groups across all home nations to discuss the practical skills and knowledge that people need in order to work in camera and lighting related roles in the screen industries.

Based on industry feedback gathered at these focus groups, the original standards first published by Skillset in 2003 have been redrafted and are available online for the wider industry to look at, check and confirm their validity or make suggestions for changes.

The aim is to ensure that the updated suite of standards capture what is currently considered best practice in the industry.

Screenskills have asked that, if you have not already done so, you could you take some time out of your schedules to support this development and share your feedback on the Draft Camera and Lighting Standards with them.

They have re-drafted National Occupational Standards for camera and lighting related job roles. These standards are to set benchmarks for industry-related courses and qualifications throughout the UK, so it is vital that they are up to date.

Please view the standards and provide feedback using the links below:

If you prefer to share your comments with them in an email or you wish to discuss any or all of the standards with us, please let them know. They are happy to accommodate what suits you best to provide your views.

The consultation is scheduled to close on 15th January.
